Dr. Wilson is an energetic educator, leader, and entrepreneur! She has lived in Brazoria County for 19 years and notably built one of the first 20 homes in the Shadow Creek Ranch community. Dr. Pitre-Wilson holds a doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership, an MBA, a BA., and most recently gained certification as an Instructional Leader in the state of Texas.
Dr. Wilson is a Real Estate Broker with 19 years of experience. She has a deep passion for Entrepreneurship and has enjoyed sharing her passion with high school students for the past 7 years. Her teaching platform has been hands on, culturally relevant, and highly practical in preparing students with applicable college and career readiness skills. The love for education coupled with her leader, practitioner experiences have led to this phase in her professional journey with a focused goal of preparing and empowering the next generation of leaders.
Dr. Wilson advocates and supports strong academic programs that will increase college and career readiness skills in all students K-12. School leadership is responsible for allocating resources to keep curriculum resources competitive with current market demands. By creating additional college and career pathways, Alvin I.S.D. will be able to increase opportunities for a larger population of students. Along those same lines, active recruitment of experienced practitioners will strengthen the CTE department and enhance student engagement in busines related pathways.
Alvin I.S.D. will benefit from greater partnership alliances with community stakeholders. Growing relationships with local business owners can increase vocational opportunities that are needed to help equip students with job readiness skills. Learning experiences are impactful both inside and outside the classroom.
As such, Expanding the current Academic Advancement (AA) plans to include a program or dedicated council will better position all students in Alvin I.S.D. Dr. Wilson supports increasing AA services and expanding curriculum that will meet the academic needs of high potential learners in all grades. This student population could benefit from additional resources and differentiated lessons for their areas of academic strength.
Now more than ever, it is equally important to further develop Social Emotional Learning skills in all students. Building SEL skills will promote an overall wellbeing in students and positively influence their academic success. Programs and resources which promote SEL activities will also help to identify forms of inequities and empower Alvin’s students and staff to effectively collaborate on ways to improve any areas of conflict. A focus on a professional development program for teachers will increase awareness levels so that the staff is better equipped in identifying students who may become challenged with mental or physical stress related disorders.
Dr. Elanza Pitre-Wilson is on the ballot for Trustee Position No. 1. The goal is to become an active member of the school board in Alvin I.S.D. because of her passion for elevating the learning experience of students and teachers. The fact is, critical decisions are made at the board level, and Dr. Pitre-Wilson is uniquely positioned unlike other candidates to bring a balance approach to decisions which have far reaching impact. She's a qualified educational leader with practical, relevant and lived experiences which will add value to the school board. Her experiences are unique and significant for this time in our country when the focus on education in a post-pandemic world is paramount. As it stands, no current school board member or candidate shares her skill set or experiences. Her differentiated resume positions her to enable greater success for Alvin I.S.D.
Dr. Wilson will provide a sound voice for educators and students in Alvin I.S.D. She has a business background with a working knowledge of the many challenges that educators face. She understands the dynamics inside the classroom and has personally connected with students. Yes, even during a health pandemic!
In addition to her professional skills, personally, she is creative, energetic, and very resourceful. She's a negotiator by trade, but always working towards the win-win for every outcome. Dr. Wilson is on a personal mission to prepare the next generation of leaders with preparedness and readiness skills for their choice of college or career.
